Easy Matar Paneer Recipe | Quick & Delicious
Matar Paneer is a comforting North Indian curry made with green peas and soft paneer cubes simmered in a flavorful onion-tomato gravy. This is my quick and easy version—perfect for busy days yet rich in taste!
Ingredients:👇
• 1 big onion
• 2 green chillies
• 4–5 garlic cloves
• 1-inch ginger
• 2 medium tomatoes (not too tangy)
• Paneer (cubed)
• 1 cup fresh green peas
• Oil for cooking
• 1 tsp cumin seeds
• A pinch of heeng (asafoetida)
Spices:👇
• ½ tsp turmeric
• 1 tsp red chilli powder
• 1½ tsp coriander powder
• Salt to taste
• ½ tsp garam masala
• Fresh coriander for garnish
Instructions:👇
1. Start With the Base
Heat some oil in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and a pinch of heeng. Let them sizzle.
2. Sauté the Aromatics
Add chopped onion, garlic, ginger, and green chillies. You can also use a blended paste. Sauté until the mixture turns lightly golden.
3. Add Tomatoes
Add tomato purée or finely chopped tomatoes. Cook until the tomatoes soften and oil begins to separate.
4. Add the Spices
Mix in turmeric, red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt, and garam masala. Cook for a minute to let the spices bloom.
5. Add Peas & Pressure Cook
Add the fresh peas and mix well. Pour in enough water to create a medium-thick gravy. Close the cooker and cook for 4 whistles.
6. Add Paneer
Once the pressure releases, open the lid and add paneer cubes. Close the cooker again and cook for 1 more whistle.
7. Garnish & Serve
Garnish with freshly chopped coriander.
Serve hot with roti, paratha, or steamed rice!
